The active ingredient in all sunless tanning products is called DHA which is short for dihydroxyacetone. The actual colour you see being applied to your skin at the appointment is NOT the final result as many people think it is -that is only a cosmetic bronzer which acts as a colour guide for the spray tan artist to see where they’ve sprayed you and so that you have the instant satisfaction of a tan. However, there are CLEAR spray tan solutions that contain DHA and will still leave you with a tan when the development fully takes place 24-48 hours after the appointment. The DHA reacts with the amino acids in the top layer of dead skin cells on your skin…this reaction changes the colour of the dead skin cells creating a look that simulates a tan. Once the dead skin cells fall off as they naturally do, this is when the tan starts to fade (hence why we tell everyone to exfoliate the day before a tan so we have the “freshest” and newest layer of dead skin to work with). Once the bronzer is rinsed off and the real result starts to come through, the tan will become much more blended and smooth than it was while the cosmetic bronzer was on your skin.

The main difference between the classic and rapid solutions is how quickly you can rinse. The classic solution takes 8-10 hours to develop, while the rapid solution only takes 2-6 hours. Both methods will give you the same result, but the rinse times vary. If you have a busy schedule and need results fast, the rapid solution is the better choice for you.

To keep your spray tan looking great, proper post-care is essential. If you take care of your skin after the tan, it should last about 8 to 12 days depending on which service you go with.

Females over the age of 18 may undress as much or as little as they are comfortable with. Some clients wear a swimsuit or bra and undies, some wear just a thong, and others who prefer no tan lines will go fully nude. The most popular option is wearing just a thong as most clients like to see the contrast of the “Before and After”! Whatever you choose, remember that this is a judgement free zone! I see naked bodies every day and I’m only looking at your skin as a canvas, I am here to make you feel GOOD and CONFIDENT. Males MUST wear bottoms; females under 18 must wear top and bottoms. Disposable thong and nipples are also avaliable.

When you get a spray tan, the cosmetic bronzer that will be applied to your skin at the appointment will rinse off after you shower. Before the first shower, it can rub off which is why I recommend wearing loose & dark clothing after your appointment. The first shower you have after the appointment will only be a rinse with water (no soap or any other products) to stop the tan development from getting darker. Occasionally, there can be a bit of bronzer on the skin after the first rinse. Typically the bronzer will come off completely after you have your first normal shower with body wash/soap. This is why I recommend my brides get their spray tan 2-3 days prior to their wedding day to ensure they’ve had a “normal” shower with body wash so all the bronzer comes off the skin before putting their dress on. If you sweat more than normal, I can't guarantee any transfer but if you want to feel extra confident about this, a hack you can use is baby powder or translucent makeup setting powder in the areas that you’re worried about transfer (I.E under the arms or anywhere else you’re concerned about). I’ve had great success with brides who come 2-3 days prior to the wedding and use the powder trick!

The whole process takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. We start with a quick consultation to discuss your preferences. Next, we apply a barrier cream to any dry areas to ensure an even tan. Then, we spray tan you, which takes about 5-10 minutes. After the spray tan, we dry you off and apply a light powder to help set the tan and not feel sticky. You get dress and you’re on your way!

Depending on how intense the farmer’s tan lines are, I can make them less visible. There are alot of factors to take into consideration on; how much of a color difference there is between the sun tan and your skin? Was it a burn? How crisp the tan line is? What you were wearing? You can always send me a photo and I can determine if it’s fixable.

If you just got a tattoo I would wait 4-6 weeks before getting a spray tan. Your skin is still healing from your tattoo and on a rare occasion, depending on your skin the tattoo could have a reaction to the solution. Also your tattoo during the healing process can scab and be dry so the solution would cling even more to those areas making your tattoo look dark orange and crusty. If you're really needing a tan, I can wrap the tattoo and blend out the edges to make it look seamless as best as I can but I recommend waiting.

No, a spray tan is not like a “Base Tan” that you get from a UV tanning bed or laying in the sun. A spray tan is just changing the colour of the outer layer of your skin. You will still need to wear SPF to protect your skin from the sun.

I recommend 2-3 days in advance before your special day. Make sure to shower at least twice before the big event to ensure all the bronzer is completely washed away. This will help your skin look fresh and healthy for photos and celebrations. For vacations, I recommend coming in 1-2 days prior to your travel day.
